# Subject teachers determine final grades

Each subject teacher has final authority over students' grades for their assigned subject or class, and the teacher's Finalize Grades action makes those grades official immediately. Departments can track submission status, while the registrar handles enrollment, COR release, and transfer-credit approvals using finalized academic results. Ordinary editing locks after finalization, and the responsible teacher may use a separate Correct Grade action requiring a reason and preserving the previous grade, corrected grade, teacher, and date. This keeps final grade authority and release with the responsible teacher while retaining a traceable correction history.
